Busy Busy!

So here we find ourselves toward the end of another month.  I know I say this every month, but this one really went by in a flash! We had so much going on!  We started the month out with a "little" project. Ever since we moved into our house we have wanted to do granite counter tops.  It kept getting pushed to the back burner as more pressing projects came up.  We finally decided it was time to just do it already and spring seemed like the perfect time.  We figured in would take two weeks max.  Well here we are 3 weeks later and are finally done!  It turned out great, better than I could have imagined.  I am so glad that I married such a handy man.  I even got to lay some tiles this go round, probably half the back splash in fact! I still feel like I am in someone else's kitchen all day!  In between tiling, we also managed to make it to WSU for mom's weekend for my sister Joy, and have Reese's first birthday party! So needless to say it has been a busy month.  Now that my house is almost fully clean from the construction mess, and things are starting to return to normal, I feel like I can actually start relaxing a bit.  I am getting more and more excited for Hawaii and our mini trip to San Fran next month.  San Francisco will be Reese's first extended time away from us.  I am a little nervous about it, but know it will be fine. We will be out of town for four days and the longest Reese has been away from us has been 1 night.  I think I will be more sad about it  than her, though! She is quite the independent little lady and loves to be social.  I am sure she will be thrilled to get to spend a lot of time with her grandparents!  In preparation for our first big, baby free getaway, I decided to wean Reese. She is just about 13 months old now and I decided it was time for our nursing relationship to come to an end. It was very bittersweet for me. I enjoyed nursing very much, it was such a bonding thing for us and I am so glad that I made the decision to do it for so long. I feel like I gave her a great foundation. Despite nursing over a year, I still felt a a bit guilty by cutting her off. I don't really know why. I know it was the right timing, but I still felt bad about it. I guess that is just a mom thing. You always feel like you could do something better. She transitioned very well and is even completely off a bottle too! She just gets 3 sippy cups of whole milk a day, and after a little reluctance at first, now downs it like its going out of style! I can't believe what a big girl she is. When we are in a store now, she will push me not to hold her since she wants to walk all over. I will try to hold her hand and she refuses and tries to run off. I know I have quite the little independent lady on my hands! We look forward to celebrating our second Easter with Reese this weekend. Unfortunately this year she is too big to fit in her basket!
